decor8 weekend challenge

Ok, This little chest was sitting around for a long time waiting fro me to give it a makeover. I finally did it!!! Thanks to Holly @ decor8 and her challenge to make some time to do something creative. I have been wanting to get to this project for a long time, I needed this chest for my scrapbook counter. Now i can put my scrapbook supplies away that have been all over my counter:)

Folded Shirt card

Hi,
I just wanted to share a card that I am still working on for Father's Day. Yes, I said Father's Day, I know it is several months away, but I am trying to get ahead of the game! Once you get the hang of the folding it is really easy! Here are some ideas you can do with this card: Instead of buttons add a tie made from some ribbon ( ask Hubby to tie it for you if you can't do it yourself) cut the end of the ribbon to the shape of a real tie. Add some lace to the collar for a female shirt and use some decorative buttons. This card can be used for B-day invites, Just to say Hi, A mans B-day or female. Well I hope you have fun with this because I sure am!

A new find for scrappers and card makers

I just wanted to share a new find! These are masking tapes, yes I said masking tape, not ribbon!!I had to take a double take myself.. I was looking at them and thinking, WOW, what a new fun embellie for all of us scrappers and card makers!! If you go to Ginko Papers you will find them for $ 6.50 for the 3 rolls. How Does This Happen? ( Invisable Teen Syndrome)

Ok, I do laundry everyday! I have to with 7people living in the house. I just want to know why when I do laundry there are more of my teen girls clothes then anybody else? They cannot possibly be wearing 4 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, and 4 pairs of underwear a day. Or can they? I haven't witnessed it yet, but the laundry says different. Take for instance yesterday, the girls were home all day, I did do laundry, and today I have a stack of clean clothes that says they wore them. Granted everytime I saw them yesterday they were both wearing the same outfits. So I have come to the conclusion that i have more then 2 teen girls living in this house. Yet again, I have never seen them! When I catch them I am going to make them wash their own clothes. The invisible teens have struck again! For proof I have uploaded this picture. As you can see the middle stack is the girls. I unfortunatly couldn't take the picture showing the top of the stack, but trust me there is more! Well I am off to find those invisible teens because there is more laundry to do....I will keep you posted if I find them:)

Cricut Cutting Mat Cover Overlay

Hi Again,
Well again I was sitting at my scrapbook counter and an idea came to mind... I had just tossed out a cricut cutting mat that was really bad. I then looked down on my counter and saw the clear mat cover laying there so I picked it up and WAM! my idea... I had decided to make my own overlays for LO and cards. What is great about using the cutting mat cover is that it is larger then 12x12 which is perfect for us peps that scrap in 12x12 format. The first thing I did was cover the whole mat with 3 different color alcohol inks. I put a few drops of one color then used bubble wrap to schmuz it around using a tap and twist motion. Repeat for the other 2 colors. then I stamped my images using embossing ink and powder. I thought that the heat gun would distort the transparency, but it didn't. I just stamped, powdered, then placed the mat cover on a flat heat safe surface ( I used my kitchen counter) and heat embossed. Then repeat as many times as you want. I then cut it out, but you don't have to. If you plan on using it as a full 12x12 overlay for your layout then make sure you run the mat cover through your paper trimmer 1st. before you start stamping. Other ideas are to just cut the center of the mat cover out to fit a picture and stamp around the cutout, cut shapes out of the mat cover with your cricut, then stamp images on the shape. There are so many possibilities!!!! I could be here all day listing them. Remember DON'T THROW AWAY YOU CRICUT MAT COVERS!! Save yourself $1.99 and make your own transparent overlays.

Interesting Find!!!

I was looking around on the web for something new to try and came across something interesting. I haven't tried it yet, but I will as soon as my kids go back to school ( they had a week off). Ok, here it is.... you fill a balloon with rice, macaroni, beads, buttons or whatever you can fit in it. Then you use it as a stamp and make some really interesting background paper. I just thought I should share this one... If you try it before I do comment this post so I can take a look! I will post a new LO or project next week when i have alone time..

Altered Clipboard

So I was having a creative weekend! This clipboard was sitting around and yesterday I decided to do something with it. I painted it first, put crackle on it, then painted it again in a different color. The paper i used was some old Close to my Heart paper. I thought it was cute paper for a clipboard. Oh and i used a lot of ribbon too! I just love ribbon!!! This clipboard has made me happy! I have been quit sad because of the plane crash that happened in Clarence Center, NY. It is not too far from where I live. My prayers go out to the families that lost a loved one in the crash.

2 Cuties LO

Well, I was in the creative mood today... so I made a LO Yippie! I have been having a creative juice block for awhile now, and decided to just jump into it and try to create something. Sometimes it is good to just do something even if it's not your best work just to get the creativity going again. This layout is of my daughter and our little kitten, Edward. My teenage daughter named him after a character in Twilight.. Anyway, we were waiting for the bus and I looked over at her and thought what a cute pic, so I grabbed my camera and snapped a pic. For this LO I grabbed some old paper, and embellies that i had hidden. I did use my cricut for the title though ( that is new). This LO took me just about all day to do because I had to fuss with it too much, but who doesn't fuss with their work. Somebody told me once that there is no mistakes in art. I wish i could remember that when I am creating a LO.Well maybe tomorrow will bring something creative, I can only hope!

Need Help... What are your Faves?

Ok, in one of my previous posts I mentioned that i was trying to open a scrapbook store in my town, well it is happening. I am so excited, the name of my new store will be "Pocketful of Memories" I will be having classes, crops and retreats along with scrapbook products for sale. So now all I need is to figure out what products to sell. I am looking for your suggestions... What are your favorites? Please list your favorite pattern paper Co.,adhesive, embellies etc. Also, please pass this post on to your blogger scrapbook friends. The more input I have the better. Thanks for all your help in advance. Just reply to my post with your answers.

The Snowstorm on Wednesday

hi again,
So in one of my other posts I mentioned that I would take pics of the storm outside. Well here they are! For those of you who do not get snow, you can have all of mine for free!!! :) The bottom 2 pics were taken Wednesday. The 1st pic was taken Thursday morning after the storm. I had to take this picture! It was sooo beautiful with the snow on the trees and the sun hitting them . Natures Beauty after the storm... BEAUTIFUL!! From what I hear another storm is on the way:( I think we have enough snow and it is time to shut off the snow machine!

Another Back to School LO

Hi,
Well i have just had a good creative week! I have been a busy little girl :) This LO is of my son's 1 day of school. As you can see he was not too happy about that. He likes his freedom of summer... every time I look at these pictures I have to laugh! He looks so sad, but Mom was happy that school started back up... I guess I should have taken a picture of myself, then I could have done another LO:) Ok, this page was made with all scraps except the main cardstock and i also used a recycled item. Can you guess what it is? yep, you guessed it! I used a piece of corrugated cardboard from a package. I painted it and inked it. This was a fun page to make, and now I have a few less scraps.. Yippie!

1st day of School LO

Well my Create Tuesday ran over into Wednesday! I guess I am on a roll, which is good because I need to catch up on my pictures. I am way behind again.... :( This LO is of my DD's 1st day of school. Notice the shorts she is wearing???? I really miss the warm weather!! We are right in the middle of a bad snow storm right now. So far we have a good foot of snow, and it just keeps coming down! I am glad I have indoor activities to do because you couldn't pay me enough to go outside right now. LOL Although the snow is very beautiful to look at! I love to look at fresh fallen snow it is so fluffy and sparklie. Maybe I will take a picture of it and share with you all later...

JOY Book

Here is the book I made for my daughter.She wanted a heart shaped book with the word JOY on it. For 7 yrs old she is very specific on what she wants. So this is what I came up with. i used the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge using the heart shape a end caps. i still have to put more embellishments on the book, but thought I would share it anyway...

This picture is of all my children including my adopted son (in the blue sweater) ok, names from leftto right... Kirk, Sydney-Elizabeth, Timothy, Shelby, Jordan, and the two little ones are Breauna-Grace & Dale. This picture was taken right before Kirk had to go back to Japan. He is in the Marines. I wanted a nice picture of all the kids, I actually took about 15 pictures, and this one was the one that my funny boy Dale decided to make funny faces and be silly. I have decided that it is really hard to take pictures of a bunch of kids. Everytime I look at all the pics I have to laugh because someone always was making a funny face! The kids had fun though!

Party Animals! LO

I have been pretty busy, but who hasn't been! I have decided to take a new journey in my life, let me explain...... I am in the process of working on a business plan to open a scrapbook store in my small town. This has been very exciting for me, but a little scary too. I have decided I really need to do this not only for all the scrappers in my town that have to travel 40miles to a decent scrapbook store, but also for myself. You see I have been a SAHM for almost 18 yrs. Not that I don't love being a Mom and only a Mom, but my kids are getting older now and it is time for me to do something for myself. My Hubby is very supportive of my decision and also all my children (5).
Anyway, I really wanted to post a project or page that I have done weekly, this happened to be my New Years Resolution. Unfortunately I have not been able to keep this promise to myself, but I guess once or twice a month won't be to bad. So here is my latest layout.


I used Cricut Platin Schoolbook Cart. for the circles, scallops, and letters, Autumn Leaves paper, random chipboard, and DCWV cardstock.

Happy New Year!
This is my First project of 2009. I made this album for my adopted son who is in the Marines and is stationed over in Japan. He has done 2 tours to Iraq and will be out of the Marines in August 09. Anyway, I used my Cricut expressions with the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge to create the envelopes. I cut the envelopes at 4 3/4in. assembled the envelopes. Then I stuck the flap of one envelope to the back of another envelope, and just keep going doing the same to all the envelope. Then accordion fold the album, making sure that the top of your albums envelope flap is always out. The top page when the album is open will always be the bottom page when closed. This size envelope can also hold CD's, so this album would also make a great CD holder. This was actually quite fun to make, and fast. TFL
