Family LO and a painted window

This is my latest creation in the scrapbooking world.

This project took me all day to paint. Sorry about the glare:( My hubby picked me up this window that his friend was going to throw out. So I decided to paint it Americana. My kitchen is done all in Americana decor. I used just regular craft paint and painted the side facing the wall. The stars were painted first. I let them dry and then painted the blue over top the white. I am working on a hutch that my hubby also picked up for me. It was kinda plain so I am spicing it up with some paint. When it is finished i will post it.

So today I was busy with 2 painting projects and one LO. I am on a roll :) I can’t believe I finished 2 out of the 3 projects today. Well I am off to paint more, and think about my next scrapbook page:)

Twilight Birthday cake

My daughter Sydney turned 17 on the 26th and wanted a Twilight cake. After a lot of convincing ( or should I say begging and pleading) Walmart Bakery agreed to make it. This cake was awesome, it was 3D and yes that is a real apple! My daughter loved it so much she didn’t want me to cut it and serve it to her guests. Don’t worry we did serve it to her guests, nobody went home without some cake. This was designed from one of the books covers. Don’t ask me which one because I have not read them yet. Anyway, my daughter had a wonderful Birthday. Scrapbook pages will follow soon!

Dirt bike LO

This LO is kinda plain, but they all can’t be perfect. I cut the circles out of some paper I had and then with a black marker I outlined it and made kinda bike spokes. The title I cut with the wonderful cricut machine and used watercolors for the shading. I still think the LO needs something though. So if any of you have a suggestion as to what it needs just make a comment and let me know. Well off I go to finish another page, hopefully I will post it tomorrow:)

Evening Of Theater LO

 

This LO is of my DD’s singing performance at her school. I used the cricut mat cover stamped transparency that I made, stickles on the title letters, metallic rubs around the photo’s, rub- on for the journal box, and of course some bling. Gotta have the bling:D. I am slowly but surely getting caught up on my scrapbooking, but now I just took 53 pictures:0. I guess I am then behind again. Oh well I have my life time to scrapbook all the pictures I take. I really don’t think that anybody can get caught up because we keep taking more and more pictures. DARN THE CURSE! Just kidding we all wouldn’t be scrapbookers if we didn’t take lots of pictures.

Well everyone keep taking pictures and scrapbook them when you can.

A New Scrap Page

This LO is of our dog Remmington and his stick dilemma. The kids collected all the sticks in the yard for him, and he had a problem deciding which stick he liked the best. He tried them all out, then he finally picked his favorite. This took him just about the whole day. 

I actually got brave and did some doodling on the page. I know it is very simple doodling with just lines and dots, but I had to start somewhere right! I cut the title out with the cricut machine, distressed them, then stamped them with a stick stamp. I think they turned out cool :) The clock was also a stamp that I had and never used until know. I am finally back on track now with my scrapbooking and projects, Yippee!!!! It feels good to be doing what i love again.

Well I am off to my scrapbook table again to work on a new creation.

A New Artist In the Family

My youngest daughter who is 7 years old and in 2nd grade was chosen to have her art work shown at the big art show in the High School. This was a district wide art show. Her painting is called “Birch Tree’s”. and here it is …….

Now we were so shocked and proud when we saw this painting hanging at the art show. Even her older sisters who were also in the art show were impressed. So now I have a new artist in the family bringing the artist count up to 5 family members…

Thanks for listening to a proud mom that has to share her children’s accomplishments with the world…

Cereal box album

Ok, I know I haven’t posted in a while, but I have finally finished a project ( well almost finished) All I have to do is add the pictures and embellies. This album is made out of cereal boxes. A few tips for those of you who want to make one yourself.

1. Cut cover slightly larger then the pages.

2. paint all cereal box pieces before adding paper including the edges. It is kinda hard to add the paint on the edges after you add the paper.

3. put the album together first with paper clips so you are sure it will work. This also makes it easier to glue together when the time comes.

This album is a pocket and tag album, but you can also create an accordion fold album. When you make one send me a pic or link so I can see how you made your album.. This was a lot of fun to design and create!!:)

I am still alive!

Hi all,
I have been very busy with classes and family stuff that I have been unable to post, but I am still alive! I have been working on several projects that are not quit finished yet. One is mini boardbook album made out of cereal boxes. So far I have the cover done and all the pages attached and paper added. I still have to embellish and put titles, oh yeah, and the most important pictures. The other project I am working on is an old 9 pane french window that I am turning into a giant scrapbook page for wall art. I promise I will post pics when I am done:) I also made my mom a very nice Mother's Day card, but I put it in the envelope and mailed it without taking a picture. So that is the one that got away:0! I really don't know where my brain was on that one???? I think it is time for a new brain! I wish it worked that way. Go to Wal-mart and buy a new brain. Ok, that would be kinda weird:0 OK moving on, next weekend I am going to an all day crop! I am soooo excited!!!! I really can use a day of creating and a break from homework. This weekend is Mother's Day and I would like to wish all the Mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day! Hope you have a fabulous day today!

Canvas Layout

So after I finished 23 pages of homework I finished this number! It is made on a artist canvas and I used things that were just laying around the house. The paper was all scraps from previous projects that I did. I used decoupage to attach them to the canvas. Lets see the found objects were some clothing tags, buttons, a cameo pin and a clear vinyl sticker that one of my kids got out of a gumball machine ( they forgot about it, so shhhh don't tell!) Then some ribbon and lace. Also if you have noticed the stamped cricut cutting mat cover that I recycled into a transparency was also used. I took a picture of the corner of my photo to show you the distressing that i did on it. I took a lighter and burned the edges of the photo. I KNOW I am a brave person for putting fire that close to my pictures! I used a copy of a picture that I printed on my printer. So if you try this DON'T use an original photo. I had a lot of fun making this, that I have purchased another canvas to make another. I think of it as fun wall art! Enjoy the rest of your week!

My Funny Thoughts LO

Well this LO was for a challenge that I found blogging around, but now I can't remember what blog had the challenge. The challenge was to create a layout using found items in your home, or use something you would normally throw away. So the butterflies are from an old pair of my DD jeans that she out grew. I cut them out and used heat and bond on the back to make them a little stiffer. The scallop trim under the photo is a pop can that I ironed out flat then cut the scallops with a corner rounder.( Yes, I save pop cans for scrapbooking) They make a great element on a page. I have done just about everything to the tin from the can. I also used an old cricut mat cover for the transparancy flourishes. So to total this up I used 2 trash items and I recycled 1 item. This was fun to make!! I am going to do another LO using different items.

decor8 weekend challenge

Ok, This little chest was sitting around for a long time waiting fro me to give it a makeover. I finally did it!!! Thanks to Holly @ decor8 and her challenge to make some time to do something creative. I have been wanting to get to this project for a long time, I needed this chest for my scrapbook counter. Now i can put my scrapbook supplies away that have been all over my counter:)

Folded Shirt card

Hi,
I just wanted to share a card that I am still working on for Father's Day. Yes, I said Father's Day, I know it is several months away, but I am trying to get ahead of the game! Once you get the hang of the folding it is really easy! Here are some ideas you can do with this card: Instead of buttons add a tie made from some ribbon ( ask Hubby to tie it for you if you can't do it yourself) cut the end of the ribbon to the shape of a real tie. Add some lace to the collar for a female shirt and use some decorative buttons. This card can be used for B-day invites, Just to say Hi, A mans B-day or female. Well I hope you have fun with this because I sure am!

How Does This Happen? ( Invisable Teen Syndrome)

Ok, I do laundry everyday! I have to with 7people living in the house. I just want to know why when I do laundry there are more of my teen girls clothes then anybody else? They cannot possibly be wearing 4 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, and 4 pairs of underwear a day. Or can they? I haven't witnessed it yet, but the laundry says different. Take for instance yesterday, the girls were home all day, I did do laundry, and today I have a stack of clean clothes that says they wore them. Granted everytime I saw them yesterday they were both wearing the same outfits. So I have come to the conclusion that i have more then 2 teen girls living in this house. Yet again, I have never seen them! When I catch them I am going to make them wash their own clothes. The invisible teens have struck again! For proof I have uploaded this picture. As you can see the middle stack is the girls. I unfortunatly couldn't take the picture showing the top of the stack, but trust me there is more! Well I am off to find those invisible teens because there is more laundry to do....I will keep you posted if I find them:)

Cricut Cutting Mat Cover Overlay

Hi Again,
Well again I was sitting at my scrapbook counter and an idea came to mind... I had just tossed out a cricut cutting mat that was really bad. I then looked down on my counter and saw the clear mat cover laying there so I picked it up and WAM! my idea... I had decided to make my own overlays for LO and cards. What is great about using the cutting mat cover is that it is larger then 12x12 which is perfect for us peps that scrap in 12x12 format. The first thing I did was cover the whole mat with 3 different color alcohol inks. I put a few drops of one color then used bubble wrap to schmuz it around using a tap and twist motion. Repeat for the other 2 colors. then I stamped my images using embossing ink and powder. I thought that the heat gun would distort the transparency, but it didn't. I just stamped, powdered, then placed the mat cover on a flat heat safe surface ( I used my kitchen counter) and heat embossed. Then repeat as many times as you want. I then cut it out, but you don't have to. If you plan on using it as a full 12x12 overlay for your layout then make sure you run the mat cover through your paper trimmer 1st. before you start stamping. Other ideas are to just cut the center of the mat cover out to fit a picture and stamp around the cutout, cut shapes out of the mat cover with your cricut, then stamp images on the shape. There are so many possibilities!!!! I could be here all day listing them. Remember DON'T THROW AWAY YOU CRICUT MAT COVERS!! Save yourself $1.99 and make your own transparent overlays.

Interesting Find!!!

I was looking around on the web for something new to try and came across something interesting. I haven't tried it yet, but I will as soon as my kids go back to school ( they had a week off). Ok, here it is.... you fill a balloon with rice, macaroni, beads, buttons or whatever you can fit in it. Then you use it as a stamp and make some really interesting background paper. I just thought I should share this one... If you try it before I do comment this post so I can take a look! I will post a new LO or project next week when i have alone time..

Altered Clipboard

So I was having a creative weekend! This clipboard was sitting around and yesterday I decided to do something with it. I painted it first, put crackle on it, then painted it again in a different color. The paper i used was some old Close to my Heart paper. I thought it was cute paper for a clipboard. Oh and i used a lot of ribbon too! I just love ribbon!!! This clipboard has made me happy! I have been quit sad because of the plane crash that happened in Clarence Center, NY. It is not too far from where I live. My prayers go out to the families that lost a loved one in the crash.

2 Cuties LO

Well, I was in the creative mood today... so I made a LO Yippie! I have been having a creative juice block for awhile now, and decided to just jump into it and try to create something. Sometimes it is good to just do something even if it's not your best work just to get the creativity going again. This layout is of my daughter and our little kitten, Edward. My teenage daughter named him after a character in Twilight.. Anyway, we were waiting for the bus and I looked over at her and thought what a cute pic, so I grabbed my camera and snapped a pic. For this LO I grabbed some old paper, and embellies that i had hidden. I did use my cricut for the title though ( that is new). This LO took me just about all day to do because I had to fuss with it too much, but who doesn't fuss with their work. Somebody told me once that there is no mistakes in art. I wish i could remember that when I am creating a LO.Well maybe tomorrow will bring something creative, I can only hope!
